I've always been into first person shooters but only single player. A friend of mine got me started on Counter-Strike 1.6 and after playing on a lot of servers where you got kicked, abused and accused of hacking if you shot the admin, and I'm pretty shit, just ask the rest of [NaKs], we decided to rent a server and start our own clan, and so Natural Killers was born.
We decided on Counter-Strike:Source, rented a server, got the domains and started a web site. It wasn't long before we got our first recruits and we were off running.
After playing for a while, getting shot when I thought I was behind a wall, I started reading the CS:S forums and got into the rates loop. I must have tried every combination over a couple of months and I can honestly say it didn't make a bit of difference to my kill rate.....I was still shit!
In trying out the various configurations I finally settled on "rate 20000", "cl_updaterate 85", " cl_cmdrate 85" with vsynch on as I have a 19" monitor running 1280x1024 @ 85Hz.
